AeroTunnel: a 2D wind tunnel in the browser

AeroTunnel is an incompressible flow solver on a 220×96 staggered MAC grid, with semi-Lagrangian advection, over-relaxed Gauss-Seidel pressure projection and smoke dye carried by the flow.

You can test NACA 0012, 2412 and 4415 airfoils, a flat plate or a cylinder, change the angle of attack and deploy a flap. Lift and drag come from thin airfoil theory with a smooth stall blend.

The hardest lesson: a simulation that looks right isn't one that is right. It's now the starting point for a research paper I'm working towards publishing.
