Investigating the Relationship Between Aerodynamic Drag and Fuel Efficiency in Commercial Aircraft
Research reportIndividual workResearchGate
RESEARCH QUESTION
How does aerodynamic drag affect how much fuel a commercial aircraft burns?
Scientific background
Drag is the air resistance an aircraft's engines must overcome to keep it moving. It grows with the square of airspeed and depends on the shape of the aircraft, so reducing drag lowers the thrust needed in cruise and therefore the fuel burned.
